Yondr System

As part of the Queenswood Mobile Phone Policy, it is compulsory for students in Year 7 – Year 10 to secure their phone in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they arrive at school. They maintain possession of their phones, but they are not able to use them until their pouches are opened at either the end of the school day or when leaving the school site, using a Yondr unlocking station; these stations are situated at various locations around the school.

Yondr recently surveyed over 900 school partners to measure the effects of creating phone-free educational environments. These schools achieved notable progress in multiple areas:

  •  65% of schools saw an improvement in academic performance
  • 74% of schools saw an improvement in student behaviour
  • 83% of schools saw an improvement in student engagement in the classroom

Associated costs to parents – automatically added to school bill

  • Initial purchase of the Yondr pouch = £20
  • Annual cost thereafter = £12
  • Lost pouch replacement = £10
