Anti-Bullying at Queenswood

Interpersonal Skills

Queenswood is committed to ensuring that all members of the School community, including boarders, day pupils and staff, are able to work and learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment, free from fear of being bullied. Bullying is anti-social behaviour which affects everyone and is unacceptable. It will not be tolerated.

This is stated clearly in our school policies, including how the school aims and processes.

However as pupils, friends, parents and family members you often look for practical tips on how to support and address the issue. Here are some good links:

We have just raised awareness of Anti-Bullying week in November through assemblies, PSHCEE lessons and tutor time, although we are keen that every week is an anti-bullying week at Queenswood and therefore we encourage students to talk and build strong relationships with the school pastoral team.

Much of our anti-bullying work is informed by our Anti-Bullying Ambassador team. For the past three years, student representatives have followed a programme created by the Diana Award – a charity for young people set up in Princess Diana’s name. These pupils can be a listening ear for other pupils, and they give us feedback and insight on social issues in school that staff may not be aware of.

If you are concerned about bullying please do talk to someone at school. From the prefect team to Rev Kate Douglas, they are all trained on how to address bullying. This could also be a member of the pastoral team, the tutor, Head of Year or someone in the Wellbeing or Medical Centre. The most important thing is to talk.

Miss Cronin is our school antibullying lead, so you can also email or speak to her for further advice. If you would prefer to speak to a student mentor, Miss Cronin can arrange that for you.

If however you feel you need to elevate this to senior members of the Pastoral team please complete this Google form.
