Practical Cookery & Leiths
Practical cookery is taught to every pupil in Years 7 to 9 in our state-of-the-art cookery suite, popularly known as ‘Haute Quisine’.
From September 2023, pupils in the Sixth Form will have the opportunity to study for the prestigious Leiths Introduction to Confident Cooking.
This three term course is designed for Sixth Form students to learn key cookery skills through a broad range of recipes, with a view to cooking for travel or independent life.
This is an entirely practical course of study; the curriculum is global, modern and delicious, instilling a lifelong love of cooking whilst providing a broad range of skills. Students master recipes from the everyday to occasions; from breakfasts and casual brunches to afternoon tea, sharing plates and celebratory dinners.
Each menu is tasted and marked with evidence collected via an interactive online portal and the course culminates in a practical assessment marked by a visiting Leiths teacher. It also includes a Level 2 online food hygiene and allergens assessment – invaluable for future employment.
