Learning in the Sixth Form

Queenswood Sixth Formers achieve outstanding academic results. Most girls will progress to Oxbridge, Ivy League and Russell Group destinations in a variety of subjects: from English to Engineering; Classics to Chemistry; Business to Biomedical Sciences.

The following subjects may be studied in the Sixth Form, provided they fit in with the option block choices: Art & Design, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Classical Civilisation, Computer Science, Design & Technology, Dance, Drama & Theatre Studies, Economics, English Literature, French, Geography, Government & Politics, History, Latin, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Media Studies, Music, Photography, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology, Spanish, Theology, Philosophy and Ethics. Students take General Studies and PE as part of the core curriculum. In support of the traditional academic subjects, we are very pleased with the success of the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) at Queenswood. Many girls choose this independent study option - much prized by universities - to supplement their education with a range of valuable skills.

Aoife tells us about her experience with the EPQ...
"I enjoyed finding different sources because they give alternative viewpoints. I will be sure to use them at university." – Aoife, Lower Sixth

To support their academic subjects, we offer a varied and stimulating Sixth Form Lecture programme, which is delivered by outside speakers who are experts in their chosen field. The purpose of this programme is to supplement students’ knowledge of global issues while offering insight into the world of business and careers. We also offer Column Q, a programme of compulsory and elective courses for all Sixth Formers that encourages exploration and engagement in new areas of thought, service and experience.
