Lynelle Kisuule OQ: Social Media Manager

Tuesday 17 January 2023

In the first of a new series of reminiscences from recent leavers, we hear from Lynelle Kisuule OQ, who is currently studying Sociology and International Development at Sussex University while pursuing a highly successful career in social media marketing. She reflects on the support and assistance offered by teaching and pastoral staff during her time in the Sixth Form at Queenswood.

I studied English Literature, Classical Civilisation and Drama and Theatre Studies A-Levels at Queenswood, and it was a tough but very pleasant two years. Despite the subjects being challenging, my fondest memories are of the teachers – especially Dr Enright, who took time to help me outside of class when applying for universities. I also had Miss King as an academic advisor and Miss Pearson as Housemistress during my time, and they were a staple part of my Sixth Form experience and further achievements outside of Queenswood. They were always willing to help and constantly reminded me of the depths of my own capabilities.

I went on to study Sociology and International Development at the University of Sussex, where I am currently in my last year. I have been able to travel to Ghana to participate in a Summer Programme linked to Global Studies. My biggest achievement has been my three-month placement at the BBC over the summer as a Social Media Co-ordinator, where I was also chosen to be the company representative for their outreach work in Wales.

Currently I am pursuing a career in social media marketing whilst working for a digital magazine and operating as my own business. I can thank Queenswood and my teachers for giving me the foundation to believe in myself and my abilities, as this has led me to where I am today.
