A Triumphant Week for Queenswood Tennis

Tuesday 12 July 2022

The first weeks of July were hectic but extremely successful for Queenswood’s tennis stars, with superb team and individual achievements in competitions and exhibition matches.

In the Aberdare Cup, held over a scorching weekend at the Nottingham Tennis Centre, our B team reached the last 16, while our A team battled all the way to the semi-finals, where they lost out to the eventual winners, Surbiton High School.

Earlier in the week, our doubles pairs fared superbly in the ISTA Championships at Eton College, with the U13 ‘1’ and ‘2’ teams reaching the last four of the Ralph Cake Trophy, where both were narrowly beaten by the pair from Brentwood.

In the U19 Loveband Trophy knockout competition, our pair reached the last two, but were unfortunately unable to compete in the final match against Surbiton, as Tennis Captain Jess M (Year 12) had to dash to SW19 for her appearance in Junior Wimbledon!

Also playing at Wimbledon for the first time in the U14 competition was Arabella L (Year 9), who earlier in the week was part of the victorious GB team who went on to compete at the U14 World Tennis Championships in the Czech Republic in August.
