The Trio Sonoro in concert, November 2023

On Tuesday 12 March, Queenswood’s Trio Sonoro will perform at the stunning church of St George, Hanover Square, in the final of the South East Schools Chamber Music Competition.

This is the second time in three years that Queenswood has reached the final of this extremely prestigious competition.

They will perform Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio in G minor, alongside ensembles from schools such as Harrow, Wycombe Abbey, North London Collegiate and St Paul’s.

The trio comprises pianist Sylvia Y (Year 13), violinist Nana W (Year 11) cellist Kalli Z (Year 10).

We would also like to commend the Melisma Quartet, featuring Kalli and Nana along with Cecilia L (Year 11) and Annabelle Ryder (Year 9), who missed out on a place in the finals, but were highly praised by the adjudicator Nicole Wilson (UK chair of the European String Teachers’ Association). This was Annabelle and Cecilia’s first experience of the SESCMC.
