Half Term Fun – Big Day Out!

Thursday 27 May 2021

After a busy half-term we are all ready for some holiday relaxation, so why not plan a fun day out in the capital? Here are some suggestions of places you may wish to visit in London next week.

Get on Board!

Now that the rain has finally given way to some much needed sunshine, an open top bus tour might be just the ticket! Operators include Big Bus Tours, The Original Tour and Golden Tours and they all stop at London's most iconic attractions. With increased social distancing and hygiene measures in place, this is a great way to see the sights.

Reach for the Sky!

For 360 degree views of the city's skyline, why not visit London's highest public garden - Sky Garden. From the observation decks  and open air terrace you can experience London from a spectacular perspective. Designed by award-winning landscape architects Gillespies, the lush gardens are exquisitely landscaped and well worth a visit. Tickets for Sky Garden are free but incredibly popular, so it's worth booking ahead. As we go to print there is still some availability for half-term!

Find Your Inner Artist!

If art is your thing, London's galleries are ready to welcome you back and there are some exciting exhibitions to visit over half-term.

At Tate Modern, our older pupils may be interested in the epochal exhibition by non-binary visual activist and photographer Zanele Muholi. Muholi is one of the most acclaimed photographers working today and their work has been exhibited all over the world. The exhibition presents  260 photographs which span their career and document the lives of South Africa's LGBTQIA+ community.

At the National Gallery, the Mayor of London's Fourth Plinth Exhibition is open during half-term. Six international artists have been shortlisted for the next two artworks to go on the plinth in Trafalgar Square. Visitors can see the models on display representing each artist’s idea and then vote for their favourite.
