Sixth Form Students Participate in Life Drawing Workshop

Friday 29 April 2022

Sixth Form students and Art Scholars from Years 7-10 took part in a life drawing workshop held in the art department on Thursday 24 March. The workshop was run by artist Jane Davalle who led the students through a series of drawing exercises that explored the human figure.

The students were encouraged to capture a sense of freedom, expression and creativity through mark making and drawing, looking at proportions of the human body and measuring techniques. The pupils produced some excellent work and remarked on how much they enjoyed the workshop.

"The live art session provided me with a great opportunity to explore the human figure, and the various sub-tasks allowed me to develop my understanding of lines of movements, which can be found within all organisms and objects. The session was a great addition to my current Art schedule."

– Lola, Year 12

"The life drawing class was a great opportunity for me to try something new, it really helped build my confidence of drawing figures, as it can be very daunting. The instructor encouraged us to draw with our opposite hand, something I had never done before, in order to really think about the lines and shapes we were trying to make on the page and the composition of the piece. Overall it was a very good experience, something I hope I can try again soon."

– Charlotte, Year 10
