Sport Scholarships
Queenswood’s Sport Scholars are remarkably successful, regularly competing at national and international levels in a wide range of sports, including hockey, netball, badminton, swimming, cross country, fencing, and athletics. Sports Scholarships may be awarded to individuals who show potential, talent, and commitment in any major sport currently offered by the school.
As a Scholar, you will enjoy a tailor-made package of benefits, designed to meet your individual needs as a sportswoman. These include one-to-one coaching sessions, fitness and nutritional advice and a personal mentor within the PE department. You will also benefit from skills sessions, general fitness and match practice alongside a personalised strength and conditioning programme.
Our Strength and Conditioning programme is delivered by a specialist coach. Scholars must attend 2 compulsory sessions a week, they will also have access to additional sessions. Scholars are also supported by a Sports Psychologist in regular group workshops and have the opportunity to arrange individual sessions.
Particular attention is given to maintaining a balance between sporting and academic life during mentoring sessions. Mentors and the Director of Sport work closely with the Senior Deputy Head Academic to ensure athletes are always supported.
The superb sporting facilities at Queenswood include a state-of-the-art indoor sports hall, a 25-metre swimming pool, 23 tennis courts, an aerobics room, a dance studio, a modern well equipped fitness suite, a polo field, an astroturf pitch, grass athletics track, indoor and outdoor netball courts, football, rounders and cricket pitches.
In return, we ask that as a Scholar you will continue to work on improving your performance, represent the school in competitions and fixtures as required. We expect you to assume an active role within the school, taking advantage of the opportunities and facilities available and to be an ambassador for Queenswood Sport, both internally and outside school.
