Miss Tyler Invited to Buckingham Palace Garden Party
Thursday 15 May 2025
We are incredibly proud to share that Miss Janet Tyler, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Queenswood, had the distinguished honour of attending a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace this week. The invitation was extended in recognition of her role as a trustee for two remarkable charities: Silver Stories and Operation Encompass. She was asked to represent both organisations by their founders, David and Elisabeth Carney-Haworth, OBE, making the occasion all the more special.
Silver Stories is a national initiative that connects young readers with older listeners to combat loneliness and build intergenerational bonds. The charity's Patron is Her Majesty The Queen, and Miss Tyler has been a passionate advocate and coordinator of this programme within our school, helping pupils develop confidence through storytelling while bringing joy to elderly listeners across the country. Her unwavering commitment to nurturing young learners and extending kindness beyond the classroom led to this distinguished invitation to Their Majesties’ Garden Party.
Miss Tyler described the occasion as truly joyous, made even more memorable by the chance to meet His Majesty The King in person and hear the Military Brass Band perform the James Bond theme tune! Remarkably, this marks the second monarch she has met, having previously been introduced to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
We are all immensely proud of Miss Tyler and this well-earned honour. Her compassion, dedication, and service embody the very best of Q’s values. Congratulations, Miss Tyler, on this richly deserved recognition!
