Isabel Hospice: The Cost of Caring – An Urgent Appeal
Friday 13 June 2025
Queenswood has supported Isabel Hospice, a registered charity which provides free palliative care and support for patients and their families, for a number of years. OQ Lara Sanders is a member of the HR team, while Ian Williams, our Bursar, is on the board of governors. We would like to share this message from Isabel Hospice with the school community.
Isabel Hospice is urgently appealing for community support to protect its vital end-of-life care services as a nationwide hospice funding crisis continues to deepen.
While the cost of running the hospice has surged – driven by the sharp increase in national insurance and energy costs to name a few – the government funding that covers just 30% of Isabel Hospice’s costs has remained stagnant for the last two years.
Helen Glenister, CEO of Isabel Hospice, said:
“Every day, our dedicated team of nurses and doctors witness the profound impact our care has on patients and their loved ones. But right now, we are facing a national hospice funding crisis that threatens our ability to continue providing this essential support.
“We are doing everything in our power to beat this crisis, but we urgently need the community’s help to bridge the immediate gap we face and ensure that no one has to face life’s hardest chapter alone.”
Isabel Hospice’s Cost of Caring Urgent Appeal seeks to raise funds to help keep its vital services running.
Just £28 could pay for an hour of nursing care. To donate, please call Isabel Hospice on 01707 954850 or visit isabelhospice.org.uk/CostOfCaring. Every pound will help local families by protecting their access to vital end-of-life care.
