Ian Sheldon, Senior Deputy Head: A Year of Academic Excellence at Queenswood

Wednesday 2 July 2025

IAN SHELDON, SENIOR DEPUTY HEAD

Queenswood has enjoyed an exceptional academic year, marked by national recognition and outstanding pupil progress. We were proud to be named runner-up in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards for Performing Arts, and shortlisted for both the Boarding Schools Association’s Supporting Junior Boarders Award and the TES Boarding School of the Year Award. Our recent ISI inspection confirmed that all standards were met, with particular praise for our use of feedback and support tasks, which have demonstrably improved pupil outcomes.

In 2024, our exam results once again placed us in the top 5% of schools nationally for academic progress, with value-added scores of +0.95 at GCSE and +0.25 at A-Level - well above national expectations. Pupils entering the Sixth Form in the upper half of the UK academic range achieved 80% A*-B at A-Level, matching the outcomes of the most selective schools.

We believe true academic excellence lies not just in outcomes, but in the progress each pupil makes. At Queenswood, every girl is supported to exceed expectations - regardless of her starting point. Combined with our vibrant and enriching co-curricular offering and sector-leading boarding provision, it’s a combination few schools can rival.
