Film Club Review – It’s A Wonderful Life

Wednesday 8 January 2014

First shown in 1946, It’s a Wonderful Life has remained a Christmas classic for decades, and is without a doubt well deserving of the title. This story of love, compassion, and appreciating what you have tells the tale of businessman George Bailey, desperately struggling to support the needs of his community and of his own family. Following a failed suicide attempt he is given the opportunity to witness what life would have been like for those around him had he never been born. Only then can he see the value of his existence and appreciate everything he has – a similar theme to that which we saw in Groundhog Day. It’s a Wonderful Life teaches an important lesson about importance of family and the true spirit of Christmas.
