Barnstorming House Performances

Monday 21 October 2019

The annual House Performing Arts Competition saw girls from every year group come together to showcase their talents in the Clarissa Farr Theatre on Thursday 17 October.

Each House had to put together a programme of drama, music and dance performances, and as ever the girls themselves were entirely responsible for every aspect of the productions, from sourcing and arranging musical accompaniment to editing video backdrops.

Among the items performed were numbers from 9 to 5, Aladdin, The Lion King and Six, scenes from Legally Blonde and the Catherine Tate Show, and montages of cultural dances from around the world.

Our guest adjudicator was the wonderful Melanie Marshall, currently starring in Only Fools and Horses in the West End. Once again, the task of selecting the overall winner was far from easy, but the eventual winner of HPA 2019 was Waller.

It is a colossal achievement to put on a show of such a professional standard. We would like to thank and congratulate all girls who participated, whether on stage, in the band, at the make-up table or behind the lighting desk.

  • Best Dance: Waller (Destiny’s Child – ‘Enjoyment’)
  • Best Music: Clapham North (Six)
  • Best Drama: Hartley (Legally Blonde)
  • OVERALL WINNER: HARTLEY
