Carol Service 2017
Friday 8 December 2017
Queenswood’s annual Carol Service was held at St Albans Abbey on the 8th December.
Several OQs attended a pre-service tea and cake gathering, hosted by the OQA, in the Abbey’s Abbot’s Kitchen. Subsequently, we all thoroughly enjoyed the traditional service of 9 Lessons & Carols in the majestic surroundings of the Abbey. As we have come to expect, the Order of Service contained some beautiful choral pieces, which showed off the talents of Queenswood girls as well as the recently formed Community Choir, which includes members of staff and the wider Queenswood community. Even Year 7’s were represented, leading the first verse of O Little Town of Bethlehem.
Of course, for some of us the Queenswood chapel is a real draw at Christmas, but given its limited seating capacity, the opportunity to hold a service at the Abbey, where OQs and the entire Queenswood community can readily be accommodated, is a real bonus.
As yet, no final plans have been drawn up by Queenswood for 2018 Carol Services. A number of options are being considered and we will update OQs on final plans in due course.
