March 2020: A Unique Time For Us All

Thursday 26 March 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians and Girls

It is indeed a challenging and unique time for us all. As I reflect on the last couple of weeks, I keep coming back to how supportive you have all been to me and my colleagues. I would like to take this opportunity of saying thank you to the Girls, Parents and Guardians of Queenswood. Whilst I know you are dealing with your own personal stories, linked to this pandemic, you have taken the time to show me and my staff, enormous support and encouragement. We really do appreciate it.

Also, I would like to congratulate the staff on how they have seized the moment and risen to the many challenges of remote teaching and learning. We have all been on a very steep learning curve and this will continue, as we evaluate, consider and develop our remote teaching skills and philosophy for the summer term.

We are sending you a questionnaire today about your experience of the first week of remote learning. When we have received all your feedback we will get to work to improve further our remote teaching offer. I know the staff have some fantastic ideas up their sleeve which they are very keen to introduce.

We are very conscious of the welfare concerns relating to the situation we find ourselves in. We are keen that our pastoral care continues to be central to the way we work and it is therefore important that any changes we make to the remote learning strategy clearly reflect this aim.

Our Governors are very aware that Covid-19 has had significant financial repercussions for us all. They wish to reassure you that they are currently exploring all feasible options relating to the Summer Term Fees whilst also ensuring that the School remains in a secure position. The Finance Committee had an extraordinary meeting this week and we aim to send further details to parents in the coming weeks.

While we all continue to come to terms with this strange new state of affairs, I do hope that you and your family will find comfort in spending quality time together this Easter holiday. We look forward to welcoming the girls back to their virtual Queenswood school on Tuesday 21 April, refreshed and keen to resume their studies.
