I’m delighted to share the exciting news that Queenswood has successfully become one of the first schools recognised by the John Muir Trust as a centre authorised to deliver the new John Muir Award.
This award is a free micro-accreditation for pupils that centres around 25 hours of environmental and conservation volunteering.
Like the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, it is structured across three progressive levels. However, unlike DofE, it is open to our youngest pupils – including those in Years 7 and 8 – which broadens access to meaningful outdoor learning and environmental stewardship from an earlier age.
We will bring you more information about this exciting new initiative after half-term. We plan to launch the John Muir Award from September, making it available to any interested pupils, with a particular focus on Years 7 and 8.
