MISS JANET TYLER, HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT

Addy T & Sophia Z (Year 13) have been calling Donald since November 2023, as part of their volunteering for DofE. They call him in the Silver Stories Club every week in their breaktime. Donald is 90 and lives alone with his dog 'Pickle'. He has said how much he looks forward to the call, and Sophia & Addy talk about their week to him and he tells them about his life.

This week was especially memorable as they called him on VE Day - Donald shared his memory of this. He was 10 years old and said he woke up to a lot of noise in the street, someone was playing a piano, people were banging saucepans and bonfires were being lit. He said to the girls 'enjoy life - there will be things you won't be able to change but you must enjoy yourself!' Wise words indeed!
