Week 3 – Settling In

Thursday 22 September 2016

As I come to the end of my third week as Principal, I am filled with a huge sense of excitement for the future of Queenswood.

Over the last three to four weeks I have enjoyed welcoming alarge number of new girls to our magnificent site and I have been struck by the
warmth and openness of all those I have met.
The energy and sense of enjoyment of the girls and staff in all that
they do has been truly inspirational.

In my first week I enjoyed getting all those ‘firsts’ under
my belt: my first full staff meeting and presentation to staff; my first start
of term assembly and singing of ‘the School Song’; and many more, including the
first Q polo match!

In week two and more recently I have enjoyed settling into a
new school routine and have particularly welcomed the time I spent teaching
some Year 7 Science. Among the many enjoyable activities I have experienced
Chapel for the first time; I have toured and interviewed prospective parents;
written a blog for the website in response to Theresa May; attended a MIST
conference; been in and out of classrooms, greeted parents and girls in the car
park as they arrived for school and spent time in the Boarding Houses.

Queenswood rightly prides itself on the way that it gets the
best out of the girls in its care, and I have been particularly impressed by
the dedication of the staff. This was especially apparent to me through the
examination results weeks, when the unique and supportive relationship between
staff and the girls was clear.

With exeat starting this Friday, I’d like to take this
opportunity to wish our girls a wonderful weekend.
