Work Smarter with these Online Study Aids

Thursday 21 January 2021

All of our pupils are unique and have different learning styles and preferences. These online study aid suggestions, in addition to the wealth of resources provided by our teaching staff, may be useful tools to support pupils' time management, knowledge consolidation and subject revision.

MinimaList

MinimaList ‘to-do list’ and task tracker is an iOS app designed for iPhones and iPads. There are also versions for Android, desktop and for Apple Watches. This simple to use app allows you to create to do lists, reminders and checklists. The task manager and Pomodoro Timer maximise user focus by breaking down work into intervals,  25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.  Your lists can be shared with others for collaborative working. A really useful tool for time management.

Quizlet

The Quizlet website and app include text-based and visual study materials. Users can add audio and images to flash cards and use tools that quiz them, test their spelling, let them import and label diagrams, and advance their progress in a game if they enter correct answers. There are a wide range of subjects available from a set simply called 'Numbers' to the highly specific 'Underwater Diving Disorders'! This is a helpful tool for revision.

Canva

Canva is a free graphic design platform which allows the user to create professional standard posters, documents and presentations with its drag and drop functionality. There are a vast number of templates available and the user interface is intuitive to navigate. This tool will make your work stand out!

Office Lens

The Office Lens app trims, enhances, and makes pictures of whiteboards and documents readable. You can use Office Lens to convert images to PDF, Word and PowerPoint files, and save to OneNote,  OneDrive, or your local device. This is a great tool if you prefer to handwrite your notes but would like to store them in a digital format or want to capture writing on a white board.

Notability & GoodNotes5

These note-taking apps let you record information in a wide variety of formats - photos, drawings, text, handwriting and recording. You can then export your notes to PDF. Both are easy to use and support writing with an Apple Pencil.
