Mezzanine floor in library
At its heart is its ever expanding collection of 20,000 items from Shakespearean criticism to the latest prize-winning fiction.  The library is also developing its music and audio collection and a library of classic films and documentaries; the school archives of rare texts and artefacts are housed here.  Magazines and journals are selected by staff to complement course work.

The library is proud of its excellent on-line resources which have been selected to form an outstanding reference service, newspaper archive and debating resource.  SKY TV is available in the library.  The whole building enables the use of wireless laptops as well as providing eight computer stations and a printer; a colour photocopier works on a separate pay-card system.  The library is connected to all other UK libraries, including the British Library, and students may borrow from any library in the home counties.

Girls in Year 7 have regular library skills lessons and, throughout the school, the library is at the heart of the independent learning strategy in all subjects.  The library is open from 8.00am to 9.30pm, Monday to Friday, and by arrangement with the Housemistress on Duty at the weekend.  The Head of Library is an English teacher and he is supported by two part-time, fully qualified Assistant Librarians.  Our goal is to make each girl's independent learning successful.  The Library is a welcoming and very popular study area.
