Your New Trampolining Coach
"Hello to everyone. Firstly I am happy and proud to be invited to your school to pass on my experiences and knowledge in trampolining to all who wish to trampoline, either for fun or to compete.
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I started trampolining when I was seven years old at the APEX in Harlow, Essex.
Trampolining then was not well known in the sporting world so it was all trial and error. The coaches such as Jack Kelly, Rob Barker, and John Beer that used to teach me are now gods in the trampoline world.
By the time I was 17 years old I was British national champion, second in Europe and fifth in the world. I also was picked to bounce for England on numerous occasions in various countries.
I stopped bouncing at 18 and stepped out of trampolining for 24 years. I returned to the sport seven years ago. I was working and living in Pinner, Middlesex . I wanted do a bit of exercise and found Harrow Trampoline Club and got on the trampoline. I found that I could still do some of the moves I used to perform. With the help and support of Harrow’s Head coach Jan Harley I soon got all my moves back (and some more!).
I started competing again and soon achieved Grade 2, picking up titles and trophies on the way (not bad for a 49 year old).
This year I have decided to stop competing and take up coaching, to give younger students a chance.
Maybe one of you will be in the 2012 Olympic games bouncing for Britain? I look forward to seeing you all."
