U14 Hockey Team head for National Finals |

|
The U14 Hockey Squad travelled to Kent on Tuesday 20 November to represent Hertfordshire in the East Regional Schools Hockey Championships.
After losing in their first game to Felsted, they went to on to beat Stamford School 5-0. They beat Kings Canterbury 1-0 to meet Ipswich High School in the semi finals, a team which had topped their group easily. Queenswood went 1-0 down quite quickly into the game but somehow managed to create a goal within five minutes of the end of the match to even it out at 1-1. Full time was imminent and a penalty stroke competition began to decide the winners. After five strokes each the scores were even and sudden death penalty strokes began! Each team took 9 strokes each before an Ipswich foul propelled Q into a final against Felsted!
Within 10 minutes Queenswood scored thanks to Shona Y. The game continued and Queenswood defended brilliantly - especially Lucie H, the goalkeeper. After Felsted had beaten Queenswood that day and the previous Saturday they must have been confident, but the Q girls held out to the final whistle to be crowned East of England U14 Champions! They will now represent the East at the National Schools Hockey Finals on Sunday 2 March 2008 at St Georges College, Weybridge as one of the top five schools in the country. We wish the girls all the best in their preparation over the next few months.
