The specific aims of the PHSE programme in this school are to:

• Talk about feelings and be sensitive to the feelings of others;
• Be constructively critical and questioning;
• Be responsible for their behaviour and learning.

The PHSE programme develops four major themes within a coherent framework concentrating on knowledge, skills and understanding:

• Personal management (self esteem, independence and confidence);
• Health and safety;
• Personal relationships;
• Social awareness.

The topics covered within these themes include:

• Careers education and guidance;
• Health education;
• Other aspects of personal and social education;
• Gender and multi-cultural issues.
