On Saturday 17 May, a small group of staff and girls enjoyed an exciting trip on Eurostar destined for Paris for the day.  Our leader, Mrs Jenni Brown-Hovelt, had planned a programme to give us a brief flavour of this wonderful city.

On arrival, we climbed up through peaceful gardens at the foot of Sacre Coeur and stopped to view the city before ambling through Monmatre and enjoying a coffee in a street cafe. Our next destination was the Tuilleries Gardens and a stroll towards the Louvre, although the Eiffel Tower was tempting us in the opposite direction! We headed towards the River Seine and enjoyed a delicious lunch before crossing the river to see the Notre Dame. Although we would have loved to taken a river trip, we decided to leave this for another time and made our way back to the Gare du Nord station via the Pompidou Centre. After about an hour of speedy travel through the rolling French countryside and 20 minutes under the Channel we were soon back in Hertfordshire, exhausted but happy after a marvellous French experience.
