Jodie W (Year 9), a Sport Scholar at Q , had her first indoor athletics competition of the season on Saturday 19 January after a long hard winter of training. Jodie is a 100m and 200m sprinter on the outdoor circuit , but competes at 60m indoor. At age 13 she competes at U15 girls ’ level.

S
he easily won her heat, semi -final and final bettering her time from 7.67s to 7.60s with successive race s. Her personal best time puts her as the second ever fastest U15 girl behind the now senior athlete Katherine Merry – a fantastic achievement for someone so young! Indeed with her time she would also have been placed first in the U17 race and second at U20 level, and is currently ranked the 4th fastest wom an in the country at 60m!

This is an amazing achievement for Jodie and really shows that her training is paying off. We look forward to more exciting news about Jodie when she next competes indoors on February 2, and at the Nationals in Birmingham on February 23.
