The newest mascot of the Old Queenswoodians, Ollie the Owl (as seen in Q’s school crest, representing wisdom), is off around the world during the week of half term, starting 16 February. Current and former pupils are taking their own Ollie to far flung parts and will photograph him in the most exciting of places to send back to Queenswood. Ollie has already been on his travels with Dr Jean Horton, Vice President of the OQA, who reports: “Ollie the Owl went to the Arctic in July 2008 to look for polar bears on a cruise round the Spitsbergen peninsula. At 80° North and 15° East, 600 miles from the North Pole, he was lashed to a flag pole and then to the deck railings to have his photos taken”. Well done Ollie – and Jean! We hope Ollie will soon develop his own gallery and even a blogspot in the Alumnae section of this website. We wish Ollie – and the girls – a happy and relaxing half term break.
