During the week of 14 - 18 June 2010, the Year Italian students visited Lake Garda, Italy. Here are some of their comments:
'It was an amazing experience – fantastico!'
'The day we arrived, we took a boat across to Sirmione. It’s called the ‘all but island’ because it is attached by a strip of land to the mainland but only on one side. We tasted our first Italian ice-cream.'
'On Tuesday we took a train to Verona. We did some sightseeing and visited Romeo and Juliet’s Balcony, the Cathedral and reached the top of the Bell Tower. We could see almost the whole of Verona!'
'Venice was beautiful and like another world! We took a boat to St. Mark’s square. We had some free time to see and buy traditional Venetian masks and Murano glass. We saw some traditional Venetian boats called Gondole which were rowed by men in stripy shirts and straw hats.'
'On the morning we visited Gardaland (a theme park), there was a huge thunderstorm. Lightning flashed in the windows as the lights inside started flickering. Everyone was soaked, and most people went home after the storm, so there were no queues for any of the rides!'
'The whole trip was bellissimo!'
