On the evening of November 6 some girls were privileged to attend a screening of the film American Primitive, the producer of which was Old Q, Susan Crowley. After being at Queenswood Susan went on to become a successful actress, run her own theatre company, and produce this feature film, among many other accomplishments.
American Primitive
is based on a true story set in the 1970s, when a young girl moves to Cape Cod. Madeline experiences
many life changing events after her mother’s death.
She overcomes many problems that, at the time, would have been politically, morally, ethically, and religiously challenging.
After the movie we had the chance to ask Susan some questions. We found out that the producer of a movie arranges the cast, the crew, the location, and the actually shooting of the film. It sounded like strenuous work – sorting out pretty much everything for the filming to go smoothly. We also found out that a crane is used to get shots from above the height of a house; this shot is called the ‘money maker’ because it costs so much to get.
American Primitive is premiering in Inverness but, technically, we saw it first.
It was a worthwhile evening, which we’ll all remember. Thank you, Susan Crowley, for such a great movie night.
