‘A Night at The Oscars’ was the theme of this year’s Summer Ball on Saturday 26 July, organised by the Fellowship of Parents and raising funds for the girls’ chosen charities and other causes. This magical evening is the highlight of Queenswood’s packed social calendar and was enjoyed by over 450 guests, comprising our beautiful and talented Sixth Form girls, parents, staff and friends.

The huge marquee was festooned with gorgeous decorations depicting artefacts from Oscar winning films, for example, lifebelts from ‘Titanic’, Indian silks from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and boxing gloves from ‘Million Dollar Baby’.   As well as bidding at the silent auction, guests could buy roses to win diamond jewellery and three lucky ladies did just that!   The champagne flowed, the supper was delicious but, as a departure from the usual awards ceremonies, there were no tedious and tearful speeches from over-wrought celebrities!

The superb entertainment included a breath-taking street dance display from The Kryptonians, dancing to the band, The Soul Police (who recently backed Robbie Williams) and DJ Hannah who rounded off an exciting and entertaining evening.   If you were unlucky to miss the Ball this year, make a note in your diaries now for Saturday 25 June 2011 and we will see you there!
