Scholarships and Bursaries
Queenswood is not richly endowed, and does not have additional resources other than fee income from which to fund awards to its girls. However, as a registered charity we are committed to demonstrating that we provide public benefit and we regard it as educationally beneficial to all to widen access to the education we offer. The number of awards made in any one year will vary according to the quality and circumstances of candidates and the availability of funds within our agreed budget.

In order to ensure that funds are disbursed where they are genuinely needed, the following principles apply:

  • Scholarships are honorary.   Scholars are given regular opportunities for prominence and leadership within their specialism.
  • Bursaries are means tested and awarded according to need.
  • A scholarship and bursary could run concurrently in the case of a scholar who needs financial assistance.

All applicants for scholarships and bursaries must have completed and returned the school's standard registration form, accompanied by the £100 registration fee and the Scholarship application form by the closing date.  This date usually falls in the first week of December each year.

Scholarships are available for academic achievement at 11+, 13+ and 16+ and for hockey, sport, tennis, music and drama. Further details of the requirements for these are in the awards folder which may be obtained from the Registrar.
