Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh Award has become increasingly popular at Queenswood. At the moment there are 40 girls in Year 10 about to start the award, as well as almost 40 in Year 11 about to complete it. Of these, about 20 will go on to the Gold Award, completing a practice expedition in the English Lake District in the last week of the summer term, following their GCSEs.
This is an ideal way to cement friendships before moving through to the Sixth Form, and an excellent physical challenge after the rigours of the GCSE exams. These girls will go on to complete their Qualifying Expedition in the French Alps in summer 2008. The other sections of the Award include Service, Physical Recreation, Skills, and Residential at Gold level.
