Art
Art is taken by all girls until the end of Year 9 and is available as an option for GCSE. The skills and techniques involved in drawing and painting, ceramics, textiles and printmaking are explored more thoroughly as the course develops so that by GCSE and, more especially, AS/A Level, the girls are able to choose a discipline in which to specialise.
Business Studies
Economics and Business Studies are both popular Sixth Form subjects. They provide an opportunity for girls to study a discipline not encountered lower down the school; both are seen as being 'connected' to the real world.
Design Technology
Design Technology is concerned with the designing, manufacturing and marketing of products. In the
Lower
School, girls experiment with a wide range of materials and processes to create and test product prototypes, using techniques such as CAD (computer aided design) and
CAM (computer aided manufacturing) that have become industry standards.
