Girls performing in a lunchtime concert
The Music Department develops in all girls, whatever their ability and aspiration, the skills required for performing, composing and listening.   Class music studies in Years 7-11, AS and A Level are matched by a full range of individual instrumental and singing lessons.

Opportunities for practical music making are plentiful and diverse. There are choirs, orchestras, bands and chamber music groups bringing together players and singers of all ages, standards and tastes.

Regular lunch-time concerts encourage the less experienced performer whilst other performing opportunities, both inside and outside the school, provide occasions for more advanced individual and group performance. Recent overseas music tours have been undertaken to Prague, Vienna and Budapest.

Collaboration with the Drama and other departments provide valuable links to other subjects. The inter-house Music Festival, Gold Singing Award, Composition Workshop and Music Scholars' Concert have all become popular platforms for demonstrating the depth, breadth and variety of musical talent within the school.
