Geography at Queenswood is exciting and looks beyond the classroom, with fieldwork forming a key part of the curriculum. In Years 7-10 this consists of day visits to local venues, with the Sixth Form travelling further afield to the South coast and North Wales. Optional overseas visits have included a joint study venture with the Spanish department to Costa Rica and regular trips to Iceland. A Level courses build on areas studied at GCSE such as plate tectonics, rivers, coasts, settlement and population. Additional and more complex topics such as glaciation and development are also considered.
Having had a taste of the diversity and excitement of the subject at Queenswood, many girls go on to study Geography and related disciplines at university.
