Drama
Enthusiasm for Drama has grown steadily and with our lovely new theatre - opened in March 2006 - we are going from strength to strength. All girls in Years 7-9 study the subject; in addition we offer very popular GCSE, AS and A Level courses.

We stage a variety of productions involving girls of all ages. Recent performances include large-scale productions: Great Expectations, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Macbeth, Cabaret and Animal Farm. In addition, GCSE and A Level students have performed in their own productions of plays as diverse as The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Man Who, Bouncers, Shakers, Loot, The Birthday Party and Grimm Tales. You can find a gallery of photogarphs from recent productions here.

With our programme of Speech and Drama (LAMDA) training, dance tuition, an annual inter-house Drama competition and specialist support from our Theatre Manager and Drama Technician-in-Residence, girls at Queenswood are ensured a full and varied experience in all aspects of theatre. Girls are encouraged to attend The Edinburgh Festival and audition for The National Youth Theatre.

Our state-of-the-art theatre, created in the body of the former Great Hall and opened in 2006, enables us to offer specialist courses in set, lighting, sound and costume design.

Being located close to London means we are able to run frequent trips to see some of the best theatre around.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our forthcoming productions.

Alison Kelley , Director of Drama

Mrs Alison Kelley, BA (Hons) Ed Drama (Wales), MA Drama and Education (Portsmouth)

Graduate of The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Alison arrived at Queenswood in 1998. She is an A Level Theatre Studies moderator for the AQA examination board and our girls regularly achieve top grades in public examinations.
