Record-breaking results

Tuesday 30 September 2014

Queenswood girls are celebrating exceptional examination results this year at GCSE and A level.
At GCSE, 42% of all grades were A* – the highest ever total for the school – and 77% were A and above in the 24 subjects taken. Over 60% of students achieved at least eight As, with one third of the year group attaining straight A*/A grades.

Principal Pauline Edgar was thrilled with the achievements. ‘Our girls will now enter the Sixth Form with great confidence and ambition. We have certainly not experienced the “volatility” in grades predicted by the examination boards. Thanks to the dedication and commitment of the students and staff, we have cemented our reputation as a leading academic school.’

Bucking the national downward trend, our A level students maintained the high standards of 2013’s cohort, with a tally of 84% A*–B grades in the 23 subjects offered, and a 100% pass rate. An impressive 57% of grades were A* and A.

The girls have secured places at the top Universities, including Warwick, UCL, Bristol, Durham, Kings College, Imperial College, Exeter, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Subjects being read at Oxbridge include Law at Balliol College, Oxford, Psychology and Behavioural Science at Pembroke College, Cambridge and Human, Social and Political Science at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. All three Tennis Scholars will proceed to prestigious universities in the USA, including Duke. Overall, 80% of students were accepted at their first choice university.
