Queenswood – BBC Radio Documentary

Monday 13 March 2017

We are extremely excited to announce that Queenswood features in a BBC Radio documentary, John Ruskin’s Eurhythmic Girls.

On Sunday 26 February, BBC Radio 3 broadcast a 45-minute programme about the influence of John Ruskin on the founding of Queenswood and other girls’ schools in the late 19th Century. The programme will be permanently available on the BBC iPlayer

The documentary is presented by Samira Ahmed, who formulated the concept after visiting Queenswood in July 2015 when she attended Queenswood as our guest speaker at Speech Day. In June 2016, Samira and her producer interviewed the Head Girl and her deputies, as well as archivist Dr Wendy Bird and three OQs, about the school’s history, the shifting priorities in girls’ education, and evidence of Ruskinian principles in the Queenswood curriculum and co-curricular programme.
