Queenswood must surely be one of the most  beautiful school campuses in the country! Situated in  120acres of prime countryside, the estate includes lawns,  herbaceous borders, specimen trees and woodland walks  including an orienteering route. With a motto of In Hortis  Reginae (In the Queen’s Gardens) the school takes pride  in its environment. Girls are free to roam in safety  throughout the estate and they enjoy the spaciousness and  peace found in their secret places. The seasons offer their  individual delights and sledging or snow-boarding from Trew  lawn down to the athletics field is eagerly anticipated each winter  by girls and staff alike!
Trew House

Often seen as the emblem of  Queenswood, this mock Tudor building is the centre of the  junior house and provides accommodation, classrooms and  meeting places for Years 7 and 8. Some of the Lower Sixth  have bedrooms and study areas on the top floor. Also in this  building is the reception, Principal’s Study, school shop  and bank, dining hall, Registrar’s office, other  administrative areas, meeting and function rooms. The views  across Trew lawn are magnificent and on a clear day, the  Chilterns are visible.
Tennis & Hockey Centre

The modern Pavilion is the focus for tennis  in the summer and hockey in the winter, affording a 360°  view of the courts; there is a café and club room. Our  superb tennis facilities include 27 floodlit courts on  campus. The Hertfordshire County Hockey Centre is based here  and there are grass pitches on site; all county training is  coached at Queenswood. We are the Hertfordshire centre of  excellence for hockey and linked to the Lawn Tennis  Association for teaching tennis. With such enviable  facilities and brilliant staff, it is little wonder our  tennis and hockey squads often come home with the trophies.
The Library

Known as the Bellman Library, this building forms the academic centre of school and houses over 20,000 books from antique editions to current prize-winners. There are also daily newspapers, magazines, journals, DVDs, videos, online services and SKY TV. The whole building enables the use of wireless laptops, as well as providing sixteen computer stations and a printer. With extensive opening hours, the library is a perfect venue for quiet study, research, reading for pleasure, debates and society evenings. 
Medical Centre

The Medical  Centre aims to provide optimum health care within a caring  holistic environment; the nursing staff care for the  physical, psychological and social needs of each individual  girl. Our nurses provide health promotion, health education,  first aid and administer over-the-counter preparation as  considered necessary. The nurses are supported by a female  General Practitioner (GP) from a local surgery and she holds  two or three surgeries per week in the Medical Centre.
Main School

On the ground floor are individual study carrells organised  on a house basis for girls in Years 8-11.  Each carrell is  equipped with lockable drawers and cabinets and a good  working area, including  power sockets to allow laptops to be  charged.   On the first and second floor are the middle  school houses for all girls in Years 9 to 11: Waller,  Hartley, Clapham North and Clapham South.  All houses have a  common room and each house’s housemistress and boarding  assistant live in the same area as the girls.  On the  third floor, Eaves provides most of the Lower Sixth with  accommodation, a common room, kitchen area and rooms for resident  staff.
Leach Centre

This centre houses the  aerobics and fitness rooms where people of all ages and  abilities can come to improve their mobility and fitness  levels under supervision.  Pilates, yoga, keep fit and step  aerobics take place in the aerobics room and the fitness  room has a range of cardio-vascular and other training  equipment.  This centre is the base for the Sport and Tennis  staff and adjacent to the gym.

Dining Hall

The large and bright  dining hall can seat a maximum of 240 people, although lunch  during school hours is normally provided on a rota  basis. Chartwells, the school’s catering contractors, are  well-experienced in providing attractive, well balanced,  nutritious meals to meet all requirements from the needs of  teenage girls through to haute cuisine for special events.   The modern servery area is designed for self service,  offering a wide range of choice to cater for all dietary  requirements and preferences; there is even a “chef’s  theatre” with a TV screening the cooking as it happens. The  House Suppers, Christmas Dinner, Leavers’ Supper, Strawberry  Tea for senior citizens and other functions are held here. 

Adventure Playground

Situated on the edge of the woodland within a short stroll  from the main buildings, this discrete outdoor activities  area is well loved and used by girls of all ages. All the  equipment was sponsored by the parents through the  Queenswood Fellowship and is constantly under review by its  users! There is a zip line, floor level trampoline, cargo  net, swings and trim trail and hoots of laughter can always  be heard in this area.
Essame Studios

In the Art and Music  Studios, known as the Essame Studios, there are three Music  classrooms, a music resource room, computer studio and 32  practice and teaching rooms.
The adjoining Kennedy Hall is the venue for numerous  concerts throughout the year.
Girls love to express themselves through Art and there are  four spacious and light studios for painting, ceramics and  textiles; there is also a Sixth Form art display room.  Pottery and craft clubs are held and there is an  Artist-in-Residence.
Swimming Pool

  The indoor pool is much appreciated by our own girls, staff and local groups and clubs.   It is half Olympic size with four lanes, deck-level edging and low odour: the water is  treated by an innovative combination of ultra-violet light and chlorine which is much  kinder to swimmers and the environment. The Clarissa Farr Theatre

Drama is a popular subject at Queenswood and this state-of-the-art venue allows the girls  to demonstrate their talents in a range of ways. It has 280 seats in the main auditorium with a flexible staging arrangement, orchestra pit, full-sized film screen, scenery dock, make-up room, theory/green room, bar and foyer atrium, lift to the new mezzanine floor,  fully accessible gantry level for sound and lighting and a control  room with an industry-standard computerised system for sound, lighting and  multi-media. The theatre is also used by the local community.

 
The Audrey Butler Centre

The  'ABC' houses  22 classrooms with interactive whiteboards and TVs and a  lecture theatre. Subjects and facilities based here include  English, Maths, Business Studies, Economics, Religious  Studies, Geography, History, Languages and English as a  Foreign Language. There is also the Computer Centre, two  classrooms with fixed computers which are connected to  school network and Internet.
