In Hortis Reginæ

The Motto of Queenswood School

The Queenswood school motto is ‘In Hortis Reginæ’, which literally translates as “In The Gardens of the Queen”. The phrase is inspired by a lecture by John Ruskin (1819-1900) entitled “Of Queens’ Gardens”, published in 1865. It is fitting of an institution with boundless opportunities for learning and growing which are unparalleled.

The friends made here are likely to be friends for life, whilst independence and confidence are developed to the fullest. Queenswood prides itself on catering to each girl’s individual needs, in order to bring out the very best in her and to allow her to achieve her full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Queenswood’s Grounds and Relative Location

As you turn into the school you will undoubtedly be struck by the beautiful grounds on our 120 acre site, as well as the heritage of our impressive original school buildings to your right and left. Venture further and you will discover woodland walks, a huge expanse of lawn, orchards and ornamental gardens. There are even allotments in which our students grow their own fruit and vegetables which they can later prepare in our ‘Haute Quisine’ cookery suite.

Queenswood is a wonderful environment in which to develop – idyllic certainly, and yet still so close to the metropolis that is London. We are also within accessible distance of all the major international airports. This is extremely convenient for our international students, foreign exchange pupils and those participating in our visit programmes.
