Grace hits the high notes for Military Wives

Wednesday 13 November 2013

Grace Cornell (Year 10) sang a solo with the Military Wives’ Choir at the RAF Museum in Hendon on Remembrance Sunday. She took the high soprano part in Paul Mealor’s ‘Wherever You Are’.

Grace and her mother sing withthe North London Military Wives’ Choir in Bushey. Military Wives’ Choirs are open to ladies who
are wives/partners of military men, to women who serve in the forces,
to those who have retired, or whose husbands
have retired, and also to their daughters.

After the success of
the Gareth Malone TV series ‘The Choir’ where he focused on the military
wives of Chivenor and Plymouth, the Military Wives Choirs Foundation
was set up in September in 2012 to support choirs
near to military bases all over the world and there are currently more
than 60.  The Military Wives Choirs Foundation is a charity
and the women give their time free of charge in order to raise money for the wider forces charity, SSAFA, and to promote the work of the Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes, etc.
